Whole Group Instructions: Today we are going to look back at our next steps from the "Challenge/Explore" section of your PoL and make a goal for the next trimester. Think about one take away you had from your PoL that will help you improve your overall performance in school this trimester. At your next PoL, what will be the evidence that you were successful with your goal?
Ticket Out: Tape your goal up on the wall before you leave! Guided Work Time | 1:00 - 2:00 Please review the GWT Office Hours document for requested locations. Academic Advisement
Grade Tracker & Goal Setting Gathering: Circle Up & Share to Sit Share successes from the past week. Share struggles from the past week. Everyone should share one or the other, but may share both if they would like. The circle starts standing up, but students can sit after they have shared. Go Around: Goal Review | Fist to Five What was your goal, and how well did you do with your goal from last week? 0 = I forgot about it, and didn't even make accidental progress. 5 = Amazing! I should probably start a new goal this week. Share your response, and support it. (Ex: My goal is to keep my backpack more organized. I chose a 3, because I took out everything that I don't need, but it's full of new things I don't need.) Independent Work:
Goal Feedback/Suggestions: Every student should have a goal partner. Teachers should assign partners to ensure that everyone has a partner, but it may be beneficial for students to have some voice in who they are working with. Once partnered up, students should discuss their goals, and offer suggestions to each other to help a goal be successful. Ticket Out: Verbal What was the best suggestion you received today? OR What is your new goal for the next few weeks? Set your things at your assigned table and circle up chairs!
Mini-Gathering: Sentence Starts With each of the sentence starts below, go-around and have students complete the sentence. 1) My favorite part of the Thanksgiving meal is... 2) This year, we're going to celebrate Thanksgiving at... 3) During Thanksgiving, I'm responsible for... 11:30 - 12:30 | Guided Work Time in Advisory 12:30 - 1:00 | Town Hall Topic: Scheduling & CCR Reflection Addie Hosting 1:00 - 2:00 | Advisory Schedule Classes for Semester 2 Here is the form Please go around to each student and fill it out with them one on one as they are working on their CCR Reflection to ensure they are still enrolled in the necessary year long classes. CCR Reflection Addie will be briefly going over this in town hall. It is important that students know the requirements for being College and Career ready, and working toward doing so. Have them start by answering the reflection questions on the back. From there, students should track their current progress in the reflection. At POLs, they will share this with parents addressing where they are now and what they are doing to address areas of growth. **There will be paper copies of the reflection, transcripts, and volunteer hours in your mailboxes Wednesday morning** If students state that they have participated in after school activities, please list the activities next to their name in this spreadsheet so we can get them added to Skyward. Set your things at your assigned table and circle up chairs!
Presentations of Learning are coming up on November 28th & 29th. (Full day of PoLs on Monday the 28th, Half day on Tuesday the 29th) Mini-Gathering: Three-Word Summary Tell us about your weekend in 3 words. (a sentence, a phrase, or three individual words) Gathering: Future & a Motion Similar to "Name and a Motion," but instead of connecting the motion to your name, connect it to a plan you have for your life after high school. Plans could be career path or academic plans, or thoughts you have about your geography, hobbies, family, etc. Listen carefully, because after you go, you need to repeat the plans and motions of everyone that went before you. (The first volunteer only repeats themself, and the last volunteer repeats everybody.) Future Planning
Gathering: Brainstorm! Generate a list of plans a "student" might have for life after high school. Discuss why. Are these the students’ plans? Parent expectations? Stereotypical plans? Outrageous? Achievable? Why? Do Next: Go-Around What are your interests? Passions? (What do you do in your free time? What can you spend an evening reading about, or watching videos about? What do you discuss with friends?) Connect: Post-It Note How can you connect one (or more) of your interests with future plans? What are your future plans? (Write this down on the post-it, and keep in your binder.) WEDNESDAY: Guided Work Time/Conferencing & Town Hall
