Write a paragraph that describes the meaning and intent behind your self-portrait. Identify what the elements of the self-portrait reveal about you as an individual. Books are my friends, my companions. They make me laugh and cry and find meaning in life. ~ Christopher Paolini, Eragon Writing Workshop | Reader’s Profile
Log into your ÉMS Reading Portfolio dashboard.
What is a Reader’s Profile? Someone—someone probably famous—once said that books should always be given as gifts, because a sweater never changed a person’s life. Somewhere throughout your life, you most likely were excited, influenced, intrigued, changed by a book (or maybe two or three or too many to count). A Reader’s Profile is an opportunity for you to introduce your reading self to the class by considering those books. It is a personal reflection about who you are as a reader; how your reading interests have changed throughout the years; the goals you set for yourself to ensure you continue to change in the future. Examples: Begin your Reader’s Profile by responding to these mandatory questions. Remember that your readers cannot see these questions, so be sure to explain, in detail, your answer so that they are sure to understand. Mandatory Questions
Your Reader’s Profile must be a total of four paragraphs. Beyond the mandatory questions from above, you may pick and choose from the following questions to complete your Reader’s Profile. Again, you are not required to answer all of these questions, just the ones that inspire you to write.
