Do Now | Skyward Check
Step One: Skyward Check, complete the following checklist. If you have a passing grade for the assignment, record the grade on the line and put a check in the box. If you have a zero or a one on the assignment, put that grade on the line but do not put a check in the box. A zero means I DO NOT have the assignment. Complete the assignment and send me a professional email with the assignment linked. Then check it off the list. If it is a one, it means that you have submitted your work but there is not enough to pass and you must finish the work. When it is finished, send me a professional email with the assignment linked. Then check it off the list. *NOTE: In high school you need to complete 23 total credits to graduate, with four completed credits in English (this is different than middle school). After freshman year, you should have at least one credit of English to graduate on time. If you do not pass this course, you will need to look at taking two English classes next semester (Fall 2022) to make up the missing credit. You are past freshman year and are missing several English credits, it is also advised that you take a summer school class. Checklist

We will read one dystopian novel as a group and then each student will select a second dystopian novel to analyze individually. We will break down the five characteristics of dystopian literature and research how those characteristics might already be happening in the world around us—government control, environmental destruction, technological control, survival, and loss of individualism.
