This week, Addie will visit each Project Block to help jumpstart the RESEARCH PHASE. The focus: OPEN, CLOSED, and DRIVING QUESTIONS! Monday = Molly’s Project Block Tuesday = Autumn's Project Block Wednesday = Mike's Project Block Thursday = Drew's Project Block If your Project Block is NOT meeting with Addie, choose from an option below:

NEXT DEADLINE: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 29 = PROPOSAL ACCEPTANCE! We have spent the last couple of weeks diving into our interests and passions, finding a topic that we want to research for the semester. Since the initial brainstorming, we have started to communicate our ideas through the proposal document. Staff is reviewing ALL proposals this week. On Friday, you will know if you are moving forward with your proposal or if you are going to need further interventions and guidance from staff. Closed Questions Closed questions represent the questions you need answered in order to understand the background information about your project topic. These answers are easily found in research.
Open Questions Open questions are answered using knowledge of the topic (closed questions) and in-depth analysis. These questions are based on concepts rather than tangible information.
Driving Questions Based on your reflection and questions generated above, begin to create potential driving questions. Create at least three questions to conference with the project block advisors. Your driving questions needs to have each of the components from the chart: Framing, Person/Entity, Action/Challenge, Purpose, and Audience.

Think back to your weekend… Share a time you created something. Could be as simple as you cooking dinner, making your bed, designing your makeup palette for the night, sketching a new character, writing a new journal entry… SO many possibilities. Share one. Announcements

Studio Time Continue to make progress on your ideation. Review the proposal document. Find professionals to support your topic / idea. Settle in for the day. Find a space you want to claim as yours. Gather any materials needed to be productive. Then, go PLAY! Make some connections with others in your space and PUT DOWN YOUR PHONES. Some options:
Do Next: Quick Jot Choose an idea (or a possible idea) from your brainstorm. Answer the following questions: 1. Why is the chosen topic important to you? 2. Why should other people care? Go Around Share your responses with the class. Studio Time: Preliminary Research Take 10 minutes and do a brief Google Search on your possible topic. Find ONE source that teaches you NEW information about your topic. Quick Jot Write that fact down and record the source it came from. Mix & Mingle: Take your quick jot response and move around the room. Find someone who you have NOT spoken to yet today. Stop and take turns sharing your facts and sources. Then, exchange notes. Mix around the room again. Repeat the sharing process… Each round is an opportunity to share new facts! Google Classroom: Proposal Review the proposal document.
