Check in with your PBlock teacher and head to the cafeteria. The whole school will view a professional model to begin class. Professional Model We will begin today by viewing Autumn Willard’s Rainbow of Witches. Following the exhibit, we will run a CONNECT, EXTEND, CHALLENGE thinking routine.
Prepare Today: You will share your idea to a group of peers through an ELEVATOR SPEECH. You will have ONE MINUTE.
ELEVATOR SPEECHES NEED TO BE COMPLETED BY 8:45am!! Elevator Speeches Your PBlock Teacher will let you know what location you will be in for this activity. 1. Tuesday, January 30: Hip Hop Orchestra Experience TOMORROW… We will observe one of the latest innovative projects in the music scene. To gain more insight, check out Ensemble Mik Nawooj to meet the team and to gain a better understanding on method sampling. 2. Wednesday, January 31: Elevator Speeches WEDNESDAY… We will pair up with peers from other PBlocks to share ideas and receive feedback. 3. Friday, February 2: Proposals Due! On Friday, the PROPOSAL is due. If you complete the proposal before Friday, continue to ideate your topic and generate questions you want answered. Conferences To help us prepare for this week’s upcoming events, your PBlock teacher will conference with each of you. These conferences are a great opportunity to get the specific help you need. What support do you need to accomplish your PBlock goals?
Studio Time When you are not conferencing with your Project Block teacher, you will use the time to make progress on your ideation. What will you focus on for today’s studio time? Capture names and goals in a visible area in the room.

Settle in for the morning. Find a space you want to claim as yours. Gather any materials needed to be productive. Then, keep brainstorming! Go Around Choose an idea [or a possible idea] from your brainstorm. Answer the following questions: 1. Why is the chosen topic important to you? 2. Why should other people care? Share your responses with the class. Mix & Mingle Take this opportunity to nerd out on your topic with a different teacher. Data-driven project? Talk to Sue! Designing a website? Talk to Addie! Creating a film? Talk to Mike! It’s okay to chat with a different teacher– gain new perspectives and a better understanding of your topic. Or, take this opportunity to share your idea with other peers– especially if you are looking to collaborate or intersect disciplines. Maybe you are looking for two other students who are interested in forming a band? GO FIND YOUR PEOPLE! Or maybe you want to create an original musical– you are definitely gonna need a team. Share a stellar project you witnessed yesterday or last week [middle or high school]. Explain WHY it was stellar. Appreciation Note Take a moment and write an appreciation note to someone who presented at EOLs. In your note, share why you are giving them some praise and what you learned from their Exhibition. (It’s okay to make multiple notes for multiple people!)
