YOGA FOR GRATITUDE Expressing gratitude, gratefulness, and thankfulness feels really good, and research shows it is good for us. The practice of gratitude “allows for positive attribution, which has been shown to protect against stress and depression” and gratitude can also increase one’s overall life satisfaction. Research in positive psychology has shown that to increase your levels of happiness a daily practice of gratitude is essential.
Learning Goal: Learn the anatomy and functions of parts of the human brain through a dissection of the sheep brain. Evidence of learning: Slide show from each group of a number of the important and interesting parts of the brain and what they do. The people not physically dissecting the brain will document some of their curiosities and discoveries on your slide show. We will watch this wonderful teacher's video and follow along as we dissect the sheep brain. We will stop at times to explore and compare to the human brain. We have brainstormed questions about the brain and we have been introduced to the cranial vagus nerve through Yoga and meditation. Today we will take some notes on the organization and functions of the systems within the Nervous System, then connect what we learn to meditation. Tomorrow will be a modeling lab.
