Do now: On your do now sheet, make a claim about the quality of your Thanksgiving meal or any meal this weekend and provide evidence. Underline your evidence!!!

Do now: Please find your new seat. On the small piece of paper at your table, write something nobody knows about you.
How long do you think you need to finish writing your claim, evidence and reasoning answering the question: How healthy is the Pigeon River? Macroinvertebrate Health Survey
We will use the document: Preparing a Conservation plan from the University of New Hampshire to help us figure out some possibilities. Do Now:
Learning Goal:
Biotic Index Monitoring Sheet like our paper version TASK:
Do Now: Sally is running an experiment where her independent variable is the color of light (green, red and white) and her dependent variable is how many the crickets sing during one hour each day. Please copy the IV, DV and come up with five variables Sally needs to keep constant in this experiment so she is sure the different light colors would be the only cause if the crickets sing different amounts.
IV: DV: Five Variables held Constant Mix and mingle C ONTINUE: Part 2 - |Google Classroom assignment| We will use the website: ClassroomData.com to play with and analyze more variables related to macroinvertebrates and what might cause them to have a higher or lower species richness (diversity). Sort and Classify macroinvertebrates from the Evergreen Pigeon River Monitoring site.
Do now: Write a research question for these variables: Pigeon River has high phosphorus. Macroinvertebrates can be used as an indicator of water quality by looking at species richness (# of different species).
Question: IV: DV: Variables kept constant: Learning Goal: Analyze data from macroinvertebrate samples to collect evidence on how different variables in the ecosystem affect macroinvertebrate species. Use the evidence to make a claim supported by evidence and reasoning. TASK:
Do Now: Copy what is in blue and answer.
How does water velocity (speed) affect which macroinvertebrate species living there? Independent variable Dependent variable Constants: Studio time: Last day in class to work on your investigations.
Students finished with their investigation results and explanation, please move on to this assignment about researching what native plants and trees should grow in our Pigeon River Project area. Ticket Out: What did you accomplish? Turn in? Do Now: Please get out your pink Do Now Sheet. Copy and answer the text in blue:
Customers from the Krusty Krab have been complaining of food poisoning after eating Krabby Patties this last week. Eugene Krabs got new shipments of special sauce and patty meat just before people started getting sick. Mr. Krabs asked the FDA to come in and find out what is causing the problem. Weirdly, the FDA said it was okay to use human subjects to run this experiment. (Probably not ethical). Design an experiment to find out which ingredient is causing the food poisoning, the sauce or the patties. Briefly describe how you would test which using humans. How many? Groups? Independent variable? Dependent variable? Constants? Tasks: Experiment Results and Explanation 1. Write up your results: table, graph, description. 2. Write your explanation: claim, evidence, reasoning If you finish those, check if you did the Pigeon River Impaired? assignment. DO NOW:
Get a DO NOW pink sheet. You will record the daily do now on it for the next two weeks. Write down the part in blue and answer it on your pink sheet. Question: How does temperature affect the sprouting speed of pepper plants? Independent variable: ____________________________________ Dependent variable: ____________________________________ Variables kept constant: ______________________________________________________ What have we FIGURED OUT so far about the health of the Pigeon River and about phosphorus as a pollutant?
1. IN the Pigeon River - with excess phosphorus
Review Your Investigation Plan
Write up your experiment results and explanation (also called a conclusion).
Do Now: Please do a quick jot on a small piece of paper and be ready to share.
What do you think is going to be the thing that will become a problem and limits human population growth in the future?
