Do Now | Silent Conversation
Today you will be put into random groups; you will not be working with your table. Each group will be given a piece of paper with a quote from The Alchemist on it. When directed, you will have silent conversations with your group members by writing directly on the paper instead of using your voices. I will prompt you on what to respond to:
Tableau Next: translate your quote fromThe Alchemist into a tableaux to share with the class as a whole. STEP 1: As a group answer, How does the quote represent the first stages of Santiago's journey? STEP 2: Decide how to best capture its imagery in a tableau. Decide what the tableau will look like by answering the following questions:
STEP 3: When your group is presenting the frozen image, each individual (whether they represent a person, object, or symbol) will be signaled by me. At that time you will speak out a phrase or sentence which gives a clue as to who or what you are in the tableau or what your character may be feeling (this is called inferencing).
