Socratic Seminar Prep Capstone Essay A capstone essay is a representation of the knowledge you gained in Issues and Ethics. It is an opportunity to explore what you have learned using your own creativity. This means there is not one way to construct a capstone essay, because it is about you as an individual. Essay Description (this essay will not be formally graded for structure, grammar, or context, it is merely meant to prepare you for Friday's Socratic Seminar) This past year the majority of us read two major pieces of literature that have raised questions about morals and ethics by considering the worst of humanity; however, despite many of the characters in these literary works diving deep into moral depravity, we are capable as humans of putting ourselves in their shoes. In doing so, we consider how these characters' stories, struggles, failures and redemptions might change our own ideas of morals and ethics. Khaled Hosseini wrote in The Kite Runner, "there is a way to be good again”. Construct an essay in which you consider societal and individual morals and ethics through the literary works There There and The Kite Runner as well as any topics we have studied within the Social Studies discipline. How can the characters and events in these novels teach us to be good again?
