QUESTION AND ANSWER | What is Model UN?
What is the United Nations?
The United Nations is an international organization made up of 193 Member States. The UN has evolved over the years to keep pace with a rapidly changing world. But one thing has stayed the same: it remains the one place on Earth where all the world’s nations can gather together, discuss common problems, and find shared solutions that benefit all of humanity. The Four Pillars of the UN:
What is Model UN (MUN)? Model UN is a course and a club that turns you into a delegate for one of the UN's Member States. As a delegate, you will need to research and understand the Member State. You will also propose a resolution to a world problem from the perspective of the Member State. As a class, we will complete each step of the research process by first investigating it together from the United State's perspective before you do so individually from your Member State's perspective. What will I need for this course?
If I am in the course, do I have to be in the club? Nope! The club is an extension of the course. At the end of the course in January, if you would like to take the things you learned and present them at a MUN conference, join the club! We will work together to finalize information about the world problem and the documents needed to present at the conference in support of your Member State.
